Aringa lady

To the Aringa, rains are a vital commodity that helps grow the crops they need to continue their life year by year.

Last year’s drought was harsh and the rains that have just come have been welcome. But droughts don’t always mean no rain at all—it can mean that the rains are not enough and it is heartbreaking when the rains start the crops growing in the fields but stops before the plants get to maturity. For many families this is devastating.

Whatever happens in Sudan affects Uganda, especially in Yumbe which shares a border with Sudan. Recent elections in that country (Sudan) went along well and, as a result, the area continues to go about their lives in relative peace.

Since the brutal Lord’s Resistance Army has been driven out of the area by government forces there is one thing less to fear—but the bandits still remain at large in both the Congo and the Central African Republic, so please be in prayer that this group will be defeated and disbanded.

However, even with these external signs of peace, the Aringa still desperately need to know Jesus Christ and to respond to the One that can bring peace between them and God.

ESTA continues to educate students but is needing funds to continue.  Many of the students who attend from the churches cannot meet the fees which adversely affects the running of the school. At present, those in charge are praying for the Lord to provide. Pray for the right students to come to the school and to also bring the needed transformation.

After the death of Amos Jurua, there hasn’t been another director to take his place. They are asking the Lord to provide the right person to fill that gap in leadership.

Some of the Muslim background believers have been are being persecuted for their faith—some even threatened with death. Pray that they will be protected from their enemies and that their testimony, under this kind of pressure, will become more obvious to those that are watching and will create a thirst for Christ.

• Pray for the rains! Pray that there will be enough to bring in a full harvest to make up for all that was lost in the previous year’s drought.
• Pray for the needs of ESTA and that the Lord will continue to provide the right students.
• Pray for the Muslim background believers as they go through this time of pressure and threats. Pray for their protection and for them to be steadfast in their faith.
• Pray that the church would be bold in their witness.
